“I’ve been involved in music for a long time -- I started taking accordion lessons when I was ten, and have been involved in making and writing music ever since, on piano, guitar, and presently, drums and percussion (so-called ‘world’ percussion instruments are starting to look interesting!) A lot of my teen years were spent with the great early monophonic synthesizers from ARP and Moog, recording onto my friend’s four-track Dokorder reel-to-reel tape deck during weekend visits. Working as I do in the graphic arts/computer graphics industry, I am fortunate to be able to delve into a complete spectrum of creative worlds and outlets.”
MUSIC INFLUENCES:
Peter Gabriel, Howard Jones, The Beatles, electronic music from Wendy Carlos and Perry & Kingsley, novelty songs by Spike Jones, and anything played on the Dr. Demento radio show.
FAV COLOR(S):
Denim Blue (to wear), Maroon (to drive), and Black. (My drums are black. All the coolest drumsets are black.)
FAV FOOD:
Rice-a-Roni. No, wait -- make that Thai-style Crispy Duck. No, wait ---
TURN-ONS:
Candlelit dinners, relaxing with a cup o’ hot chocolate in front of a crackling fire in the fireplace on a snowy Winter’s night, skiing (both types), walking on the beach at sunset, flying kites, Julie Newmar as Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer as anybody, sunny Spring mornings, hiking along mountain trails on smoky Autumn afternoons, Christmas carols, and Meg Ryan trying to say, “Waiter, dere iss too much pepper in my Paprikash.”
TURN-OFFS:
Cigarette smoke, people who laugh at or put down others, AIDS, telemarketers who call at dinnertime (actually, anytime), loose-cannon Presidents and their entire adminstrations, and “Potato Buds”.
FAV SAYING:
“When you really think about it, going to ‘The Diner’ is the end reward for everything we do in life -- all the sweat and toil and drudgery of jobs, all the budgeting and saving money in banks, all the hustle and bustle of every day that rushes by, all of it. When I die, I’ll probably wake up in some cosmic diner somewhere.”
