“Hi, I’m Denise, lead singer with The Slant. I’m old enough to have lived through and LOVED the new-wave 80’s, a major Slant influence, and young enough to rock & roll for a long, long time to come! In 1995 I married Rich (our manager, not our drummer), who believed in my Slant music and fell in love with me as soon as he heard his first Slant song (it was ‘Diane’, by the way!) -- He had so much faith in our music that he became our manager and biggest fan (and my personal groupie/roadie/main guy all rolled into one). Now, a year or so later, with a compact disc in the can and many performances behind us, the future for us is just beginning, thanks to my husband’s persistence and the band’s perseverance!” MUSIC INFLUENCES: A lot of music from the 80’s, especially from female vocalists. My biggest influences are from Blondie, the B-52s and Renaissance. I also really like early electronic/techno-type music like Kraftwerk and Gary Neuman. FAV COLOR(S): Purple -- because purple, like red, is the color of passion, and us Scorpio girls are passionate about everything! Love, life, music -- whatever! Other faves are turquoise, aqua, black (which I look good wearing!). FAV FOOD: Anything spicy, especiall Chinese and Italian food. And I’m a real sugar nut -- Haagen Dazs, Snickers bars and vanilla ice cream are faves! TURN-ONS: Being married for 2 fantastic years to my sexy, tall, forceful, gentle husband/manager, Rich. Also: great harmonies, crisp Autumn days and starry Spring nights, deserted ocean beaches, fields of wildflowers, cuddling my cat, scutching, and relaxing with my friends. TURN-OFFS: Inhaling second-hand smoke, bad ventilation, having allergies, the destruction of the environment, death & taxes, freezing cold, any kind of abuse, neglect of the elderly and hungry, overloud screeching “music”, BAD RADIO, westerns, old army movies, crime family movies. FAV SAYING: “My attention is captured easier with a whisper than with a scream.” (Which is the same as “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.”) | Bill | Tom | Rich | Our Manager |
