DENISE: “This is called ‘The Stalker Song’ by one of our fans. It’s heavily influenced by two Blondie songs, ‘One Way or Another’ and ‘Hanging On The Telephone’. This is one of the earliest ‘Slant’ songs.”

DENISE: “The music for this song was written in the 80’s, as one of the first collaborations between Tom and Bill. I wrote the lyrics, which are about an obsession I have with junk mail - I enter all the sweepstakes, get a ton of catalogs, and can’t wait to see what’s new each day!”

BILL: “I wrote this song during the years when I was playing folk/jazz music as a solo act at Folk City in Manhattan. It really started as a ‘blues jam’ to fill space between other songs...the lyrics came somewhat later, giving the song a life of its own.” DENISE: “I get a kick out of singing the refrain which goes, ‘Hit me with that duck, or you’re out of luck!’”

BILL: “This is a song about headgames and ‘breaking up’. It’s a very strong song with a really rocking rhythm. I can’t really remember what inspired me to write it, but it must have been really traumatic at the time, I do remember that I wrote the whole thing in about a half-hour.” DENISE: “We needed a chorus for this song while in pre-production for our album ‘Try This.’ Both Bill and I wrote one -- we couldn’t decide which one to use, so we used both!’”
